Severn Class
Welcome to our class webpage!
I am Mr Blenkinsop, Severn Class' teacher, and I'm so excited about having a fantastic year ahead with my class of 30 wonderful children and my two amazing Teaching Assistants, Mrs Belcher and Mrs Hodge.
Here is some important information to help you stay updated:
Swimming: Every Monday, we'll be making a splash in our swimming lessons.
PE: Get ready to move on Fridays during our Physical Education sessions (please come to school in your PE kit)
Friday Fun: Fridays are packed with activities! We will practice and test our spellings and times tables, and enjoy a cosy reading session during ERIC (Everybody Reading In Class) where children can bring a blanket, cushion, teddy, torch and a book.
This Half Term’s Learning Focus:
History: We’ll be learning about the Mayan Civilisation enriched with real life experiences from Miss Aucock as she has visited the temples while on her travels. We will explore their daily life, ways of early writing and how they were organised in Mayan society.
Science:
Year 4: We are learning about sound, investigating how vibrations travel through different materials, how pitch and volume can be changed, and how the human ear enables us to hear.
Year 5: We are learning about how gravity pulls unsupported objects towards the Earth and how forces like friction, air resistance, and water resistance affect movement. We are also going to explore how simple machines such as levers, pulleys, and gears can make tasks easier by allowing a smaller force to have a greater effect.
I'm looking forward to a superb year full of learning and discovery!
