On Wednesday 23rd May, we were very lucky as teachers from Westacre Middle School and Prince henry's High School came to visit Offenham to do some exciting space themed activities with us. The focus of the day was STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
Class by class, we took it in turns to complete the various acitivities.
Miss Fisher took us into the hall and gave us all a roll of toilet paper. We then had to count 100 sheets and stretch it out to the other side of the hall! After that, we were given cards with the planets on and had instructions of where to put them on the toilet roll. It was so interesting to see how far apart the planets were! Miss Fisher was very impressed with our knowledge about space!
Mr Barber had set up iPads with virtual head sets attached. We took it in turns to look through them and it was as if we’d been transported to different worlds!
Miss Foster led us in to a very, very dark room, where she was standing with a torch. We spoke about the sunrise and sunset and then had the chance to make our very own sundials! Once we had made them, we went outside to try them out and they worked perfectly!
In our classrooms, our teachers had prepared some tricky space themed maths word problems that we had to solve.
We had an amazing day and it taught us to work well as a team. Thank you to all of our visitors!
