Malvern Class 16/17
Welcome to Malvern Class!
There are 28 children, 15 year one and 13 year two children. The class teacher is Miss Ree and the teaching assistants are Mrs Walker, Mrs Ellis, Mrs Smith and Mrs Bindley.
Summer Term
This term our topic is Africa! We have been learning all about the Maasai Tribe and the African Grasslands.
SATs
We are so proud of all of the year twos, they worked extremely hard throughout the week. Thank you to all the parents for your support.
Forest School
This term we have been doing Forest School with Mrs Vigoureux. Take a look to see what we've been doing..
Spring Term
Orienteering Easter Hunt!
This week in PE we had great fun completing an Easter themed orienteering hunt! We had to find the Easter Bunny's foot prints, colour in the egg on our sheet and then complete the task that went with it. For one of the tasks, we had to run all the way around the field! We were able to practise lots of ball skills that we had learned in previous lessons. What a great time we had!
Castles, Knights and Dragons
We are very pleased to have started our new topic of Castles, Knights and Dragons! So far, we have been writing about the different parts of a castle and what a knight is. We need to learn as much about castles as we can, so that when we visit Warwick castle we know lots of information about them.
In DT we have started to design a castle made from 'junk' and are beginning to consider how we will put it together to make all of the different parts. Over the next few weeks we will be building and decorating our castles made from recycled materials. How exciting!
To end our topic, we went on a trip to Warwick Castle! Have a look at the 'School News/Events' to see what we got up to.
PE - Outdoor Adventure and Activities (OAA)
Throughout this half term, in PE we are doing OAA. We have been working as a team to make different words with our bodies. Can you guess what words we have made?
The Three Billy Goats Gruff
Our new English topic is The Three Billy Goats Gruff. So far, we have read the story, made masks and acted it out in groups so that we have a brilliant understanding of the story. Then we wrote the original story using a range of story language and punctuation skills. Afterwards, we innovated the story and wrote our own version by changing the characters and the setting. Finally we wrote a letter that included questions to the evil troll and a blurb to encourage people to read the story.
Here are some of the things we will be doing...

Autumn Term
We are looking forward to making a brilliant, productive start to the year and making lots of new friends in our class.
This half term looks to be a very busy one, full of lots of excitement and hard work. Have a look at our class newsletter to see what we are going to be learning about.
Forest School
This term, we are having weekly forest school lessons. We're having lots of fun learning about nature, insects and exploring different habitats. We really enjoyed working as a ream to use tarpaulin to build some amazing dens! Miss Ree had a great time coming to visit our 'hotels' and 'restaurants', some of us even perforemed some music for her with our stick instruments we had made.
Here are some of the things we have been doing...
Little Red Riding Hood
This half term we have been learning all about the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We started by sequencing the story, then made story maps, acted out the story and now we are busy using everything we have remembered to write the story.
Languages Day 14.10.16
We learned Spanish colours and made passports to take with us to visit a French/Spanish cafe! We tried croissants and chocolate brioche.
Under the Sea
In the second part of the Autumn Term, our topic was under the sea. Miss Ree dressed up as a deep sea diver to show us what divers need to wear! We learnt about different creatures that lived under the sea and wrote some amazing fact files. We focussed on the book ‘Dougal the Deep Sea Diver’ and wrote lots of diary entries imagining that we were him.
